batik painting

On wonder | wander | women we just blogged about the twin birthday celebrations our whole family gathered to enjoy on the tiny, gorgeous island of Ko Yao Noi in Thailand.

We are eternally grateful to Global Nomad for this ten day spree of fun in the sun. What an extraordinary adventure indeed!

The stunning beachfront estate at Ani Villas Thailand offers guests a magical Southeast Asian experience. Many activities and amenities are included, allowing guests to enjoy a variety of relaxing, adventurous, and cultural experiences as we desired.

We participated in the meditative traditional Thai craft of batik. We took a long tail boat ride to some neighboring islands. We had a cook fest of traditional Thai delights. We strung up some fragrant garlands and put our offering in the resort spirit house. We walked along the coastal surf and sand.

In this first installment, wonder |wander | world shares our experience with the local women's crafts group on the island in an inspiring session of batik painting.

Our family proudly showing off our batik art.

Batik has evolved from wonderful traditional apparel to home and table top decor, to wall art for many homes and establishments.

The art of batik making is a moving meditation that centers the mind and liberates the heart though creativity.

Best of all, we got to take home our original batik prints as a truly unique souvenir of our time at the resort.
