Developing a story through drawing is an interesting challenge. The art needs to tell the whole story at a glance.

But before the story illustration happens, there is a lot of research and refining the details that will go into that art.

Eventually the reader will get something that pulls them into an amazing world, but only if the artist can get that world right. And that means work, work, work!
